2 | Who are the invited guests? | Rev 19:9 | Richard Spendiff | 104739 | ||
I have looked at Bullinger on this, so here goes:- the 'wife' of 19:7 would be the earthly consort of the Lord for the millenium and is physical Israel, just as it is kind of now starting to take shape in the middle east (many so called Jews are not descended from Jacob so there may be a way to go before a real Israel after the flesh occurs, unless adoption of Judaism is enough, which is possible). the bride of 21:9 is the Israel of the heavenly calling, ie christians. See how chapter 21 starts with the new heaven and New earth and the holy city. Pondering this will make sense of it all. The word used for bride in 21:9 is 'numphe' and does not occur in 19:7. 'gune' meaning woman or wife is used in both verses. |
