1 | Did this war already occur? | Rev 12:7 | bstudent | 115989
Did this war already occur or is it yet future? Show your Scriptural reasons for your answer. John said "Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near." (Rev 1:3) Since we can't "take to heart" what we can't understand, surely the truth can be known.

BStudent, In short, yes it did. You are wise to see the time indicator in verse 3. That's not the only one either. ββ¦to show to His bond-servants the things which must shortly take place.β (Rev. 22:6) "Behold, I am coming quickly. " (Rev. 22:7) "Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is near." (Rev. 22:10) "Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to render to every man according to what he has done.β (Rev. 22:12) "Yes, I am coming quickly." (Rev. 22:20) A belief that might be up your alley is known as Preterism, which believes in past fulfillment of prophecies. Take care, SUEDE |

War in heaven: It is a war with no casualties. Michael and his angels battle Satan and his angels. Michael is to be victorious. Satan and his angels are thrown to the earth. WHEN Satan realizes he is thrown down, he persecutes Israel. This persecution leads to those in Judea fleeing to be fed in the wilderness for 1260 days. Satan will know immediately that He is cast down. It will not take Him years to figure that out The FIRST seal of chapter 6 is a war, but unlike the following seals their are no casualties. The rider on a red horse takes peace from the earth, so the first was not a war on earth since it would have taken peace from the earth. Israel has not had to flee for the wilderness yet, so Satan is still in heaven and not thrown down. IN regard to coming quickly, a thousand years is as a day with the Lord, so it is quick in His view. There is a passage that says men in the last days will be scoffing, and saying that the day of the Lord is not coming quickly but that everything is the same as from the beginning. The reply was that though it seems slow in coming to man, it is in fact not long in the larger view of God. 2 Peter 2: 3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, 4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. 8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. |

Emmy, This all happened around 70 AD when Jerusalem was sieged by the Romans. Look at Revelation and the Olivet Discourse found in Luke 21. They describing the same thing, only Jesus reveals much greater detail to John in Revelation. True that 1,000 years is but one day to the Lord, but not to us. In the Bible we have the Lord telling mortal men something. Jesus would not say I am coming quickly to mortals knowing full well that our lives are greatly limited. Here's a great example. Daniel was told to seal up his prophecy because the days were not near. Note, that's relative to him and mortal life. 6th century B.C: "Seal up the vision; for it shall be for many days." (Dan. 8:26) Interestingly though, John was told the opposite of what Daniel was told. 1st century A.D.: "Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is near." (Rev. 22:10) Now, Daniel was told to seal up his prophecies, but they would be fulfilled within roughly 500 years. But John was told NOT to seal up his prophecies and they haven't come to pass in 2,000 years? This is not good Biblical interpretation. God takes into account the mortality of fleshy man. Time indicators in the New Testament demand rapid fulfillment, within the 1st Century. Take care, SUEDE |
