It means anointing. Look at 1 John 2:20 in KJV and NIV. NIV uses the term "anointing" in place of KJV's "unction". Know the song, "Give me oil in my lamp, keep me burning, burning, burning?" The stenza is also sung, "Give me unction in my gumption, keep me function, function, function ...." | ||||||

Mike, I might ask how you define the Unction. If you've received Jesus Christ into your heart you are In Christ. All believers have received the spirit, Eph. 1:13, and are anointed with Him by God 2 Cor. 1:21,22. 1 Cor. 12:13 says, For by one Spirit were ALL baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and have all been made to drink one Spirit. The baptism is spiritual in nature, in other words, it is the Holy Spirit who places us(baptizes) into union with Christ. Hope this helps, BradK |
