1 | baptism and the appeal to God | 1 Pet 3:21 | Huron | 142090 | ||
My take on this is that back during Peter's time people where baptized shortly after conversion. They made a pledge or statement of belief on Christ at the time they were baptized. This was part of the "appeal to God for a good conscience" which is what actually allowed Peter to say that "baptism now saves you." Am I in the ballpark? Thanks! Huron |

I'd tend to agree with you. Clearly Peter cannot be thinking something far different from what Paul said in Romans 6:4 (scripture explains scripture). But it is interesting to contrast and compare the salvation of Noah in the ark with the salvation that we enjoy. It appears that that is the comparison (or type) that Peter is talking about here. In Him, Doc PS How are we to "shoot an e-mail" off to you (in your profile) if you don't have your e-mail address there? :-) |
