Truthfinder, I did not miss your question and I undestand it. My short answer is yes, animals do have spirits in the simple OT sense of the breath of life, but not immortal souls as the common usage understands regarding men who also have the breath of life until they die. The subject of how the words for spirit and soul are used in the OT and NT covers several pages under both "soul" and "spirit" in my copy of Dictionary of the Bible by John L. McKenzie. I am afraid it would really aggravate my Carpal Tunnel Syndrome to try and cover all the finer points of the subject covered there and elsewhere. I only wish it was online so I could cut and paste but it is not. Emmaus |
