"Hear, Isra'el! ADONAI our God, ADONAI is one" The Complete Jewish Bible Deuteronomy (D'varim) 6 6:4 "Sh'ma, Yisra'el! ADONAI Eloheinu, ADONAI echad [Hear, Isra'el! ADONAI our God, ADONAI is one]; 6:5 and you are to love ADONAI your God with all your heart, all your being and all your resources. 6:6 These words, which I am ordering you today, are to be on your heart; 6:7 and you are to teach them carefully to your children. You are to talk about them when you sit at home, when you are traveling on the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 6:8 Tie them on your hand as a sign, put them at the front of a headband around your forehead, 6:9 and write them on the door-frames of your house and on your gates. 3 | God of our fathersThe Lord is our God | Deut 6:4 | kalos | 111175 | ||
Hello, Ray! Yes, we can say that the LORD (YHWH) is God; the LORD (YHWH) and God are one and the same person. God's name is YHWH. Exodus 3:13-14 (ESV) Then Moses said to God, "If I come to the people of Israel and say to them, 'The God of your fathers has sent me to you,' and they ask me, 'What is his name?' what shall I say to them?" [14] God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM." And he said, "Say this to the people of Israel, 'I AM has sent me to you.' " '“Yahweh” [YHWH] is not one of God’s names—it is his only name. Other titles, like “El Shadday,” are not strictly names but means of revealing Yahweh.'
