1 | whosoever put away his wife except forni | Deut 24:1 | upset | 213758 | ||
After 24 years of marriage, I divorced my husband because I thought I could find a better life. I had left him 3 times before finally ending it in divorce. When I asked him for the last time if he was willing to change some things in our marriage, he said "you know me, I will never change". He told me everything would be alright as long as I listened to him. He never apologized to me in the 24 years we were married. I told him I was sorry for things that I said but I never got this back from him. I divorced 17 years ago. Since then I and my former husband have remarried and he must have changed because he is happily married. I, on the other hand, am tormented every day. I would like to reunite with my former husband but I can't call him because his new wife is always there. I would like to make myself right with the Lord. Can you please suggest what I can do? I want both of us to be eternally saved and I read in the Bible that God only allows divorce if your spouse commits adultery. Neither of us were guilty of this. |

Let me mention Deuteronomy 24:1-4, before you consider trying to remarry your ex-husband. I do not know why SO many Christians who teach divorce doctrine, particularly hardline, Bible studying Christians, miss this verse. It clearly states that, you having been remarried, even if you divorce your second husband, your first husband is not allowed to remarry you. I don't know what your views are on divorce and remarriage and I am not a complete expert on the matter either; but I strongly urge you to consider Deuteronomy 24:1-4. |
