Should I honor their traditions when I occasionally visit? I've understood that CHRIST broke all bondages and that we have victory and freedom... | ||||||

Hi, Norma... When you go into the territory of another group, it is never wise, respectful, or loving to antagonize them by flaunting your disagreement. We wouldn't like someone doing that to us, would we? In Christ we can curtail our own freedom in deference to others -- that's what freedom is all about. (See Romans 14, for example.) After all, this issue is not an extremely important one. If, however, it is sufficiently offensive to you, just don't "visit." One other thing: Some years ago I commented to a pastor friend regarding what joy there was in victory over sin. He said, "Do not focus on victory, rather focus on forgiveness." It took me a while to understand. One day it dawned on me: Victory over sin is "me-focused." Forgiveness for sin is "Christ-focused." I am hoping that these thoughts are edifying for you and others.
