"If a man finds a girl who is a virgin, who is not engaged, and seizes her and lies with her and they are discovered" (Deu. 22:28) Should we force the rapist to marry their victim? -Should this be law in our land? -This was God's idea, so is it bad? Explain your reason. |

2 | Should the rapist marry their victim? | Deut 22:29 | Lionstrong | 19708
Dear Steve, This may not be rape. Read the above verses about the engaged virgin. If they (the man and the engaged virgin) are "found" in the city, both are put to death for adultery. It is assumed that she would have cried out and been heard and recued, if she were being forced against her will. Wouldn't the same be true for an unengaged virgin. In town her cries of resistance would have been heard. ..... ¶ In the field however there's no evidence of rape or consensual fornication. ....... ¶ And with your view of OT law, why would apply at all today anyway? .... 3 | Should the rapist marry their victim? | Deut 22:29 | Searcher56 | 19723
Lionstrong, However, doesn't she she cry out. First, because it is God's idea is the reason I would apply His law today. Seond, we are not free from the OT Law, just its punishment ... as already pointed out in other post. Searcher |
