The sub-title over this passage said "Laws of Sexual Morality." Does this apply to todays practices and if it does do the 2 have to be in-love or just love each other. I have many more questions but answering this one will be a great start for me to understand it. | ||||||

Greetings pollerana9 and welcome to the Forum. Read the discussion on this passage at post 19699 - input this number in the Quick Search field. As far as I can see, love has nothing to do with this - rape is a violent, self-centered expression of sin and both become victims - thankfully, Jesus died to save us from the penalty of this sin, but the earthly consequences of the action remain intact. God's laws are for OUR benefit - the law makes us aware of sin!(Romans 3:20) Perhaps if a man understood the penalty,50 shekels of silver (where can those be found?), and marriage to his victim with no chance of "parole," ( which may be a fate worse than death . . .) he might be deterred from acting upon his lust. Please remember that following the law can never justify us before God. (Eph 2:8-9 et al) Blessings, mommapbs |
