1 | Eph 5:29 Let no corrupt communication | James 3:2 | winningside | 164833
Why do christians have to attack other christians on this website? I have been reading through many of the answered questions trying to learn and grow in lord. What I am seeing a lot of is, a person answering a question to the best of their knowledge and ability and then someone else attacks what was said and even some occasions of name calling. How about all of us, myself included, try to answer questions to the best of our abilities, and if we don't agree with the answer the last person wrote, instead of attacking that person "full force" let's just send a serparate reply to that question. Not every who comes to this site is a christian - Lets show some love. This is a wonderful website and we all can learn from it. ------ winningside

Hi, Winningside... You ask, "Why do christians have to attack other christians on this website?" (sic) Whenever human beings are involved in any activity there will be less than ideal behavior. Even if everyone who participated in the forum were regenerate, proper, loving behavior is still something for which we are called to strive. We will be perfect only after glorification. Also, keep in mind that strident denunciation of error is not necessarily an un-loving behavior. The Puritans used to say, "Showing mercy to the wolf is showing cruelty to the sheep." The most loving thing another brother can do for me is to correct my doctrinal error (Proverbs 27:6). There is a great deal of precedence in the Scriptures of Christ and the apostles not "pulling punches." The world teaches that unity means people don't disagree. The Scriptures encourage us to unity in the truth. In Him, Doc |

Hi Doc, you quoted in your message "The Puritans used to say, "Showing mercy to the wolf is showing cruelty to the sheep." I say Thank goodness God isn't a puritan.

Amen to that! Well said! Thank goodness God isn't a Methodist, a Baptist, a Charismatic, a Pentecostal, an Episcopalian, a Presbyterian, or a Lutheran! ...you thought that I was one like yourself. But now I rebuke you and lay the charge before you. "Mark this, then, you who forget God, lest I tear you apart, and there be none to deliver! The one who offers thanksgiving as his sacrifice glorifies Me; to one who orders his way rightly I will show the salvation of God!" (Psalms 50:21b-23 ESV) |

Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee. (Proverbs 9:8 KJV) I have written something to the church, but Diotrephes, who likes to put himself first, does not acknowledge our authority. So if I come, I will bring up what he is doing, talking wicked nonsense against us. (3 John 1:9-10a ESV) :-) Actually, there's a balance in all of this... I think we both understand that. Let's help one another to not shift too far in either extreme! |
