Greetings Carla! As for single women who have no husband to rely upon for questions about the Bible or for Biblical advice, I believe that the following two verses speak volumes to those of us who can and should assist them.. 1 Tim. 5:16 "If any believing woman has relatives who are widows, let her care for them. ..." (ESV) James 1:27 "Religion that is pure and undefiled before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world." (ESV) And you could just as easily put a single woman here who is seeking answers as well as the widow, so that the fellow brothers and sisters in Christ can meet their needs as well. If a woman is not married and seeks Biblical counsel, then I believe that she should at first try to seek her pastor and her family (perhaps her father) for advice. But if these two fail, then I believe it is our duty as fellow Christians to help a woman put to rest some of these questions or burdens as brothers and sisters in Christ. Blessings to you, Makarios |
