1 | Please help a new Christian | Heb 12:2 | zeagle50 | 241838 | ||
hello everyone - I am new to this site. thanks in advance for your help. 1. I have 2 questions: does got punish us for our sins on earth by making us sick? I been sick for about 7 months and I think god is punishing me but iam am confused about it. I recently accepted Jesus as my savior and asked him to come into my life. I told him I believe he died for my sins and through him I can have eternal life. But I don't really feel any different? I don't know if he is really in my life. I have been reading the bible and his promises to us but I just don't feel he is listening / answering my prayers . I pray every day, read, and am trying to have a relationship with him. I am trying to follow the ten commandments, and being a good Christian, but just cant see / feel god in my life Does he not want me? I am really trying to have a relationship with Jesus but I just don't feel it. thanks to all |

Hi, Zeagle50... Welcome to the forum! Also, welcome to the Family of God. Scripture tells us that God is the one who originates us in the faith and He is also the one who will perfect it (Hebrews 12:2). He does not save us so that we will feel things or to spare us from suffering in life. Instead, all He does is for His glory and our ultimate good. What has begun in you is a transformation as the Lord transforms us to the image of Christ. Thus, you see, that He has started this relationship with you by what He has done in saving you. None of it matters how you feel. Rather these things are facts. The truth of facts are not changed by how we feel about them. What you need to realize is that the Scriptures are the most explicit speaking of God to you. Isn't that also part of having a relationship; i.e., communication? The Word of God is far more of His speaking to you than anything you might hear with ears or feel in the heart or experience in your life. Therefore, I would encourage you to read through Hebrews 12:1-13 in your current circumstances. Read it through over and over. Remember, do not worry about what you do NOT understand, rather focus on what you DO understand. It will be in the things that you DO understand that God will be dealing with you. Then I would suggest that you read through the gospels, one chapter a day, all year long. You'll have read them four times by 2016! It is in the Word that our Lord Jesus Christ makes Himself known (Hebrews 1:1-2). Finally, we will all be praying for you as you grow in Him. Perhaps He will bring healing to your body. Nonetheless, as you read Hebrews 12, you will know that everything that He does with us has the ultimate goal of glory in Him. In Him, Doc |

Hi, Zeag... Yes, God does and has punished people for sin. As you study the Word, I will leave it to you to find specific instances in Scripture for when He has done so! However, whether that applies to your situation is an entirely different matter. But you are a Christian, consequently you should know that all things come from His hand, as I said to you early. Therefore, seek Him and His glory through your circumstances. In Him, Doc |
