Why is going to church so important in a Christian's life? I mean, I've heard people say that they don't need to go to church to worship the Lord.

Families gather, eat together, celebrate together and support one another, including God's family. Heb 10:25 not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near. |

I am confused. There is a lady that I go to church with who is going crazy. She is not only a wife, she's a mother of 2 teenagers, she also plays a big role in church, and she is a loner. The other night we were praying and her husband asked that we pray for her and he spoke on some of the things that he is worried about. She got upset with him because he spoke about their buisness in front of others. Now, see I am confused. I thought we were to help others. I thought we were to pray with others. I mean I know myself, if I can't carry the burden alone then yes I give it to the Lord, but sometimes I want others to help pray with me. Am I wrong for that? I was told that NOT putting our burdens on others shows a maturity in Christ? I DON'T UNDERSTAND.

9-1-1, In a marriage one must repesct the confidence of one's spouse and not speak about them, particularly the details to others, especially in a group, unless one has the consent of the spouse. In asituation like you describe, perhaps private confidential counselling is more in order. Communula prayer and support does not always mean it is necessary to the intimate personal details of another life, only that they may need prayer and support in a difficult time. Prudence and discretion are virtues that should be practiced in such circumstances. Emmaus |
