Word study ... Splagchnon ... Splagchnon (Strong's 4698) is the word fro bowels, and can mean spleen ... the bowels were regarded as the seat of the more violent passions, such as anger and love; but by the Hebrews as the seat of the tenderer affections, esp. kindness, benevolence, compassion; hence our heart (tender mercies, affections, etc.) Below are some verses ... splagchnon is translated affection or heart in the NAS: 2Co 6:12 You are not restrained by us, but you are restrained in your own affections. 2Co 7:15 And his affection abounds all the more toward you, as he remembers the obedience of you all, how you received im with fear and trembling. Php 2:1 If therefore there is any encouragement in Christ, if there isany consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, Col 3:12 And so, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; Phm 1:7 For I have come to have much joy and comfort in your love, because the heart s of the saints have been refreshed through you, brother.
