Greetings Merry, "Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted." 2 Tim. 3:12 See also: Matt. 10:22; Acts 14:22; Phil. 1:29; 1 Peter 4:12 "3:12 Those who want to live godly lives must be prepared for persecution, literally "to be hunted." God does not promise us deliverance from persecution but deliverance through it. Persecution is one of the means God uses to develop our capacity to reign with Him in His kingdom (see 2 Tim. 2:12; Matt. 5:10-12; Rev. 2:10)." (1) "3:12 who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. Faithful believers must expect persecution and suffering at the hands of the Christ-rejecting world (cf. John 15:18-21; Acts 14:22)." (2) Blessings to you, Makarios (1) The Nelson Study Bible, New King James Version, 1997, Thomas Nelson Publishers, Earl D. Radmacher, pg. 2059 (2) The MacArthur Study Bible, 1997, Word Publishing, John MacArthur, pg. 1879 |
