1 | Should we not be Dispensational and why. | 2 Tim 2:15 | annie.dunn | 121981
Is the Dispensationalist view of scripture sound. Many pastors do not seem to believe in that teaching. Is it just another interpretation of doctrine or should it be avoided. If so, please explain why.

annie.dunn, Well, you can check my profile if you'd like. I consider myself fairly dispensational. As a method of interpretation, I feel it does provide an overall logical and sound framework with which to understand the entire Bible. However, it has been my experience that not all agree with this method of interpretation. There are both moderate and extreme positions within Dispensationalism. I would consider myself moderate:-) Much of the debate centers around several areas: 1. The Body of Christ vs. Israel ( are they the same or do we differentiate?); 2. The beginning of the Church ( Early, Mid, or Late Acts); 3. Prophecy vs. Mystery ( what is intended for Israel and that which is intended for the Body of Christ); 4. The sacraments of Communion and water baptism. ( are they necessary and still to be practiced); 5. The "sign gifts" ( are they still valid or have they ceased?) This is just a summary of some of the issues that I'm familiar with. Obviously these can be met with opposition and not all will hold to, or embrace every aspect of dispensationalism. I believe much can be gained by following the guideline that "in essentials, agreement, in non-essentials, liberty". Speaking the Truth in Love, Brad |

Thankx, Brad .... I am also at least a moderate dispensationalist...meaning I don't agree with everything, i.e. tithing, but that's my choice. However it worried me that since so much of it makes a lot of sense and seems quite clear cut, that many people either do not agree or have never heard of it. My pastor doesn't agree with any of it and no one else that I talk to and it made me feel that perhaps I was wrong to believe in that view. I appreciate your response as it is exactly how I feel. Thankx again, Brad.
