1 | Church budget not met should they beg? | 1 Tim 5:17 | dedicatedtoHim | 103906
My Pastor tells us every Sunday what the "budget" is for the week. At the end of service he tells us it wasn't met- and keeps asking for more money. He says that he guesses if we don't meet the budget he won't get paid for the week? Isn't this wrong of him to be saying. Sorry so long not sure how to shorten it!!
2 | Church budget not met should they beg? | 1 Tim 5:17 | Radioman2 | 103911
Churches should not HAVE TO BEG. 'It's unfortunate that so many churches feel they must squeeze money out of people in the name of stewardship. Churches think they must beg and plead and hit folks over the head to get their offering. They offer chicken dinners and fashion shows in order to squeeze out the last drop. They can barely break even because their congregation is so reluctant to give. This shows that something is drastically wrong in the heart. Something is wrong when we don't give money, time, or service to the God who has been so good to us. 'In my ministry, I have committed to teach and preach about stewardship, not squeeze money out of people. But the reality is that unless the church members understand they are stewards of God’s kingdom, the ministry of the kingdom greatly suffers. Stewardship is a matter of the heart.' --Dr. Tony Evans ____________________ http://www.oneplace.com/Ministries/The_Alternative |

3 | Church budget not met should they beg? | 1 Tim 5:17 | dedicatedtoHim | 103916
I understand that the people of the Church must give. I just have a problem with every Sunday morning they say "OK the budget is 1,500 for this week" (which I think is a little high for one week) and then they say at the end of service "Well, we didn't meet the budget and then they go into their "begging" mode. One time our Pastor even said "Do you not want me to get paid- who ever doesn't want me to get paid raise their hand" Sorry but I think that is wrong to ask in the Church!!! He said last week that if everyone doesn't tithe the amount they should then God will not heal anyone in the Church. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't feel this is true. God can heal anyone at anytime regardless if the budget is met in the Church. This has really bothered me. Well, please just offer me some more help with this. Thank you all who replied- it means alot.

dedicatedtoHim In my humble opinion anyone that would say unless everyone tithes God won't heal anyone in the church needs to be saved. He is not preaching Jesus he is preaching money. David said Psalm 37:25 I have been young and now I am old, Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken Or his descendants begging bread. We are God's stewards of God's money and many times we get very very tight with it and need to be taught how to properly give. There is nothing wrong on teaching on giving. Also if the church has an actual budget I see nothing wrong telling the church the status of that budget. The church has the right to know if the giving is meeting the needs of the budget or if there needs to be budget cuts. A pastor also should be paid a reasonable salary. Reasonable being the key word, again in my humble opinion he should be paid the median income of the congregation. If that can’t be done then three things need to be looked at, first the budget. Maybe spending other places needs to be trimmed. Or, secondly the people need to look at what is important in their lives. Is it having the latest and greatest that just hit the market or is having a Pastor to love and care for them. Watching out for their spiritual walk and teaching and preparing them to do the work of the Lord. Thirdly the Pastor himself if he can’t live on what is being given and the church can’t afford to pay him more, he may need to get a secular job. While this is a very undesirable situation it needs to be considered along with all of it’s implications. If the Pastor is holding down a job he might be at work instead of making hospital calls. You may have to schedule weddings and burials around his schedule rather than what you desire. The man can’t two places at one time. EdB |
