1 | God's plan of protection? | 1 Tim 2:13 | loavesnfish | 232264
1 Timothy 2:13-15 seems to be emphasizing doing things according to God's plan for protecting people from Satanic attack, so how did it get to be a male-female thing? Isn't the context one of quelling disruptions by reforming behavior?
2 | God's plan of protection? | 1 Tim 2:13 | srbaegon | 232278
Hi loavesnfish, The idea of protection is there, certainly, but these verses are appealing to God's creation order. Men are responsible for being the spiritual leaders and protecting their wives (see also 1 Cor 11; 14). Beginning in Eph 5:15, Paul lays out what it means to walk carefully before the Lord. He does this by showing how God's intent of proper subordination works within the family (subordination not meaning subservience but understanding and fulfilling a God-given role). Steve |
