1 | Slaying of the spirit!what is the need? | 1 Thess 5:6 | Lionstrong | 139532
"Slain" in the Spirit? What do you think the Bible teaches on this subject? And what Bible references are given to support it? Instead of flopping in a mindless spasm on the floor, I see a Spirit-filled person living a sober life. 1 Thess 5:6 so then let us not sleep as others do, but let us be alert and sober. 1 Thess 5:8 But since we are of the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet, the hope of salvation. 2 Tim 4:5 But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry. 1 Pet 1:13 Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 1 Pet 4:7 The end of all things is near; therefore, be of sound judgment and sober spirit for the purpose of prayer. 1 Pet 5:8 Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. |

2 | Slaying of the spirit!what is the need? | 1 Thess 5:6 | Ray | 139540
Hi Lionstrong, You gave a good list of Scriptures for keeping us sober in spirit. You spoke of "a Spirit-filled person living a sober life". You know me (the capitalist). Could this be a spirit-filled person as well? For example here is my interpretation of Acts 2:4 for your consideration and comment. Acts 2:4, "And they were all filled with *holy *spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance." From the heart, Ray |

3 | Slaying of the spirit!what is the need? | 1 Thess 5:6 | WilBo | 139592
Thanks for the scriptures., well done on that..but I am still in question on Slaying what does it fulfill.,more spirit person or power or what? I do believe in Act 2:4 if I ever did it I know God wanted me to speak in other tongues maybe to understand more of his spirit and the glory of his power ...thanks Ray...In Christ...all we can learn is more we can share with one other.

WilBo "Slaying of the spirit" IS NOT Biblical. Also if you study Scripture, speaking other tongues is in a language that a listener understands.
