Greetings ptimpalasix! I believe that the Biblical 'method' of baptism is that of immersion. However, I believe that it is your preference whether you are immersed, poured on, or sprinkled, and I do not believe that the 'method' of water baptism really makes a difference. However, I do believe that water baptism is significant in that it is an outward and public expression of the inward Baptism of the Spirit that has already happened within. If you are baptised by water, then you are proclaiming publicly that you have indeed been changed, and that you are now a child of God. I believe that the Holy Spirit becomes a part of your life after you are Baptised by the Holy Spirit, and I believe that this happens at the moment of salvation, when you truly and earnestly accept Jesus into your heart. I do not believe that the gift of speaking in tongues has any bearing on the status of your salvation. If you can speak in tongues, then that is good, since tongues is a sign for unbelievers (1 Cor. 14:22). But in no way should anyone feel inadequate or doubt their salvation if they do not speak in tongues. Blessings to you, Makarios |

Makarios: I agree with your answerto ptimpalsix@aol.com (wow I am glad I don't have to say that mouth full) Maybe we might suggest a better name. Except I do think method is important.Immerison is as you said the Biblical method. Most churches that sprinkle accept infant baptism . Which I fins no Biblical grounds for. I have sprinkled a woman who was very near death, and there was no alternative. I amglad you said what you did about the holy spirit. | ||||||
