1 | Over and over.. line on line, again | Phil 3:1 | nuge | 54339
Philippians 3:1 FOR THE rest, my brethren, delight yourselves in the Lord and continue to rejoice that you are in Him. To keep writing to you [over and over] of the same things is not irksome to me, and it is [a precaution] for your safety. In parenting, or in discipleship, gentle repetition bears fruit. |

Another excellent post, Nuge. Short, but packs a punch. An old expositor of Scripture (whose name escapes me at the moment) is somewhere on record as saying that he read a book of the Bible at least 50 times over before ever he would dare put pen to paper to comment even as much as one word on the book. Repetition. Even Hitler appreciated the value of repetition to the smooth operation of his propaganda machine. Over and over, in speech after speech, he told the German people the same pack of lies until eventually he was able to deceive millions. Repetition. As a schoolboy I was required (by an unmerciful teacher!) to memorize Hamlet's famous soliloquy and found myself saying "To be or not to be" all day long and probably in my sleep as well. That was many decades ago, but I still know most of it by heart. Repetition. I've committed a number of Bible verses to memory, and find that I don't have to look up verses that I laboriously memorized many years ago. Repetition. So it is with prayer, with Bible study, with worship. Repetition is so vital -- it is, as it was for the Philippians, a safeguard for us as we endeavor to press forward in the Master's service. --Hank
