1 | Phil 4:10-11What does this mean? | Phil 3:10 | Wheatfields | 80213
What does Philippians 3:10-11 mean? What does "share His sufferings" mean. My understanding of Chistians suffering is that as Christians we are to resist what Christ suffered for us on the cross - He died for us so we do not have to go through what He went through if we apply the Word to our situations. If we HAVE to go through sickness, opression etc, why did He die?
2 | Phil 4:10-11What does this mean? | Phil 3:10 | Emmaus | 80214
Wheatsfields, Please see Romans 8:16-17 and 2 Cor 12:9; Col 1:24 and Matt 10:38; 16:24; Luke 14:27. He became like us so we could become like Him. Think of suffering like works. We all have to work, but there are "works of the law" done out of obligations and works of love done out of faith and love. So we all suffer, but do we suffer in futility or do we join ourselves to Christ and His redemptive suffering out of love for Him and our brothers offering ourselves as "a living sacrifice (Romans 12:1)?
