1 | Why does Paul's imprisonment lessen fear | Phil 1:14 | prazn | 86328 | ||
Paul, as well as other believers, have less fear because we trust in our Lord. God is sovereign. He has promised, all who believe in Him, eternal life. Since we do not fear death, what else on this earth can we possibly fear. We know the Creator of the universe; what can man do to us? What's more, as Paul so eloquently wrote: Rom 8:35 Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Rom 8:36 Just as it is written, "FOR YOUR SAKE WE ARE BEING PUT TO DEATH ALL DAY LONG; WE WERE CONSIDERED AS SHEEP TO BE SLAUGHTERED." Rom 8:37 But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. Rom 8:38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, Rom 8:39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. |

Your answer was basically that Christians don't need to fear because God is on our side. I agree with that, but the verse is talking about something different. It says that the Christians had less fear becuase Paul was in jail, not becuase of their faith in God. That is why I am confused. How could Paul being imprisoned make them more confident to share the gospel? |

Because Paul was an example to them. They were inspired to greater faith. To preach without regard to the consequences. That is what happens when we see others that have faith that is willing to suffer persecution without backing down. It makes others rise up in faith as well. And Faith (as well as love) casts out fear. If |

I think that is a good answer ................ Dear Scribe, Thanks for your response. That sounds very reasonable. Paul's example of sharing his faith while in prison would be very inspriring to the people around him. Hopefully, Christians today find it equally inspiring. |
