Hi, Nubeaux... This is the word that is translated "dispensation" in the KJV in 1 Corinthians 9:17, Ephesians 1:10, 3:2, and Colossians 1:25. It is an administration, a stewardship, an arrangement, etc. Colossians 1:25 uses the phrase you are asking about. Sometimes you will encounter the phrase "divine economy." You might think of it as the design by which things are handled or discharged by God during a specific period of time. Dispensationalism makes heavy use of this word. You can read more about that by using the search option. Covenant theology tends to use the word as well for the various covenants under which God is said to deal with man. Maybe someone else can offer a better definition. :-) In Him, Doc |
