In Ezekiel 18:20, God promise' us that the Children shall not bear the sin of the parents neither shall the parents, the children. My question then is, why did He destroy the children along with the parents in some of the cities that were His enemies?
2 | Why the children? | Num 33:55 | Searcher56 | 224786
Scripture ... Exo 23:23-25; Num 33:52-56; Deu 20:16-18 ... You asked "Why did He destroy the children along with the parents in some of the cities that were His enemies?" In Exodus 23:23, God said He would destroy them and they "shall not worship their gods, nor serve them, nor do according to their deeds; but you shall utterly overthrow them and break their sacred pillars in pieces. But you shall serve the LORD your God, and He will bless your bread and your water; and I will remove sickness from your midst" (vv 24-25). Numbers 33:55 gives a clear answer to the question. Think about Sodom and Gomorrah. There were not even ten righteous within the city of Sodom. I believe that includes the children. So God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah (Gen 18:20-19:28). There was an influence on Lot’s wife (Gen 19:26). "Clean out the old leaven so that you may be a new lump, just as you are in fact unleavened. For Christ our Passover also has been sacrificed" (1 Cor 5:7). Searcher |

3 | Why the children? | Num 33:55 | Dotta | 224833
The Bible was written not only to record the history and the law, but for us to learn from it today. When Searcher said "think about Sodom and Gomorrah......I believe that includes the children." Shouldn't that make us realize how important it is to teach and be an example to our children the things written in the Scriptures and to raise them up according to the Word. Then God's judgement will not fall on them nor us.
