1 | Numbers 30 Are You Bound To Your First ? | Num 30:1 | Proverb Wife | 187504
My question is in reference to Numbers 30. My high school sweetheart believes that in reading The Bible that we are bound together due to these scriptures. We were each others firsts and my Father did not refuse him. I am a Christian but I am not sure how to interpret this. I have been married for almost two decades to my husband and I would like some clarification on this verse. I try to explain to my old boyfriend that this is his interpretation and Jesus came to establish the New Covenant. Can you help me here. I really need some advice on how to clear up this situation. Thank you and God Bless!

Hello Proverb Wife, Unfortunately, the scope of the Forum doesn't lend itself to providing Counselling. However, your solution is in part self-evident. You're married! Take a look at Deut. 5:21! Your high school sweethearts "interpretation" is clearly wrong at its' foundation. Who is the passage writen too? Who is speaking and what are they speaking about? Verse 1 of Numbers 30 is a start. Is your husband aware of this? I'd seek Pastoral counselling on the matter should you need further guideance. Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

Dear Brad, Thank you for responding to my question. Yes, my husband is aware of this situation that keeps being presented to me through our marriage. My husband and I are very open and honest about everything and this old boyfriend from high school is emailing me these Bible scriptures all of the time. At first we just figured he was twisting the scriptures but the more he comes up with these scriptures the more they tend to confuse me and not my dear husband. I in no way want to leave my husband but I wanted some clarification on these passages. More so to teach my old friend what is right from wrong and set him on the right path. In emailing this former boyfriend both my husband and myself have told him to look at who this passage is written too and whom they are speaking about. He then comes back to tell us that this is being interpretted by Christians who keep Pagan holidays such as Christmas, Easter etc. He is a former World Wide Church Of God believer and has splintered from the church. I have directed him to Deut. 5:21 hoping that he will read it. He believes that we are the sons of Israel for they all split. I guess the best thing to do is to just let all of his mumblings go for I cannot save him in what is THE TRUTH in The Bible. Thank you again for your help :) God Bless you and yours!! Proverb Wife |

Proverb Wife, Welcome to the forum. Brad hit it right on the head. We make the mistake of takings thing not addressed to us and trying to give them application to ourselves. We cant always do that. This is where good sound biblestudy principles are vitaly important. Take a look at 2 Timothy 2:15,2 Peter 1:20-21,and Romans 15:4. These are bedrock scriptures when one is dealing with study of God's Word. In Him, lionheart |
