1 | Was she suppose to tell? | Num 23:19 | jbw | 85847 | ||
Mark 7:35 And his ears were opened, and the impediment of his tongue was removed, and he began speaking plainly. Mark 7:36 And He gave them orders not to tell anyone; but the more He ordered them, the more widely they continued to proclaim it. When the Lord told her not to tell was it just a ploy so she could tell? Or did he really not want her to tell? |

As you read through the Gospels you will notice this type of thing occurs often where Jesus tells someone to tell no one who He is. This seems confusing to first time readers because they do not understand the explanation he gives for why. He does give the explanation as "my hour is not yet come" What does this mean? Jesus was careful to not draw attention to himself, he even told many not to tell others that he was the Christ, not because he wasn't as some cults might try to say, but becuase ultimatly he would be crucified for mankind (his hour) and he did not want it to be said that any of the things that he would do that would fulfil all prophesy were contrived in anyway. If he was trying to push himself forward and assume the role of the promised messaih (as many had done before him) he would have done what they did and what his brothers told him to do, reveal himself to all and make these public proclaimations. But instead he is seen taking a more secluded role and so in the end it demonstrates that it is God that was in control and no man could say that Jesus tried to fit his life into prophesy but instead all that was fulfilled in Him was truly the prophetic fulfillment. |
