1 | John 2, 1-11water into wine was it Juice | Eph 5:18 | Vincom101 | 41804 | ||
The Wedding at Cana in the book of John 2, 1-11 Jesus turns a large amount of water into wine and as verse 10 explains the wine was considered very good wine "You have kept the best until now" NLT, I find it hard to beleive that Jesus would have turned the water into alcoholic wine. However, Its also hard to beleive that the best wine was unfermented grape Juice. Can anyone shed some light on this? |

In John 2:10 the Greek word for wine is "oinos" which means wine. It must have alcohol in it as in Eph 5:18 the same word is used in condeming getting drunk. Ephesians 5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; KJV We know the bible teaches moderation in everything especially if it should make your brother stumble you should abstain from it. Rom 14:21 It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak. KJV My understanding is drinking an alcoholic beverage is fine as long as it is in moderation. Arnie |
