Does anyone know where the phrase "redeem the time" comes from? -- is it in the bible (I haven't found it with search engines) If it's not from the Bible, who coined it?
2 | Redeem the time? | Eph 5:16 | Morant61 | 169629
Greetings JRM! Some translations treat it a little differently, but the phrase you are seeking is found in Eph. 5:16 and Col. 4:5. The word translated as 'redeeming' is 'exagorazo'. It can mean 'redeem' or it can also refer to making wise use of something. So, the NIV translates Eph. 5:16 as, "making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil." And, Col. 4:5 as, "Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. " These translatations bring out the thought quite clearly. I hope this helps!
