2 | where was Jesus? | Eph 4:8 | Scribe | 40940
Eph 4:8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. 9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? 10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.) After searching what this lower part of the earth means in scripture I am convinced that Jesus descended there during the three days and did indeed release captives and this is why it was said saints were seen raised and in jerusalem. I don't fully comprehend that part but it happened. And I think it has to do with legality of fulfilling all things and satisfying the Justice and Judgement of a Holy God. There is more to the spirit realm than we comprehend. |

3 | where was Jesus? | Eph 4:8 | Searcher56 | 41014
Actually, the saints came out at the moment of His death.
4 | where was Jesus? | Eph 4:8 | Scribe | 41105
I get my information from this verse Matthew 27:53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many. Don't you think here that is means after His Resurrection the saints came out and were seen? |

5 | where was Jesus? | Eph 4:8 | Searcher56 | 41168
Back up to verses 50-52 ... they came out of their graves when He died ... but did not appear until His resurrection. I do not know what they were doing for the three days and three nights.
6 | where was Jesus? | Eph 4:8 | Sctt | 41179
HI searcher if they came out of the graves when he died then they would have been resurected before him Col1:18 says And he is the head of the body, the church:who is the beginning, the FIRSTBORN FROM THE DEAD;that in all things he might have the preeminence.
7 | where was Jesus? | Eph 4:8 | Searcher56 | 41389
Sctt, That arguement does hold. Christ being firstborn doesn't mean He was first ... it means He was preeminent ... a different first. There were others who came back to life. Lazarus most recently. Even Moses and Elijah were seen in their spiritual bodies ... tho the latter didn't die. |

8 | where was Jesus? | Eph 4:8 | Sctt | 41527
Hi Searcher I've reread this passage and if you take what is said as two differant sentances (my spellings terrible) I see where you are comming from.I use KJV and it reads as one sentance ...and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, and came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many. That said i've also read other translations that make it two sentances. But in all the translations i've read it does say they came out of the graves after his resurrection. So lets agree with what the scriptures say , but this does not have to do away with your interpitation of it for I thank we are both right. The graves were open and the saints arose, but stayed in their graves(tombs, caves)until the resurrection.Maybe it was while they were in their tombs Jesus preached the gospel unto them. I hope this make sense of the two different points of view. In Christ Scott.
