Hi mag_1, Welcome to the Forum! Since it's really beyond the scope of this Forum to give specific counsel, I'll limit my remarks:-) First, If you're truly believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, I'd think it wise to consider if by supplying and promoting the use of alcohol at your wedding reception is the type of testimony you want to show. Eph. 5:1 instructs us that we "Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children;" Would the Lord approve of such action? Does he (your boyfriend)want to do this because he wants to please his family? It is YOUR wedding. What type of example do you really want to set? Is your boyfriend a mature believer? Consider the command in Eph. 5:18: "And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit," At our wedding neither my wife nor I chose to have a big "Beer bash". We had our reception at her parents home and limited the number of guests. We did not provide or supply any alcohol. Ask your boyfriend if the Lord would truly desire the potential for others to become drunk at your wedding? You have choices to make and you certainly don't have to do what the world does. Pray about and seek the Lord's will through study of his Word. Ask your Pastor for advice as well:-) I hope this helps, BradK |
