Dear Coty, Welcome to the forum. Unity is something that God has accomplished and with which we are to cooperate. Every call in Scripture to unity is directed to local congregations. If we could get that right, then we'd probably have a much better foundation to work on a broader basis. :-) Believers have the wonderful prospect of God finally and fully bringing unity to its perfect denouement in the New Heaven and New Earth. That hope keeps us going! Denominationalism has been much discussed in the forum. You can find all the arguments for and against by using the search function. In Him, Doc |

Hey Doc, The great thing here is that if we could get it straight in our heads it is doable in this day and age,we might not get it perfect till we get home,if you know what I mean. But we do have the means right at our fingertips. All things are possible with God. In Christ, lionheart |

4 | Does God approve of denominations or doe | Eph 2:14 | DocTrinsograce | 164149 | ||
Amen, brother Lionheart. The enabling power of the Holy Spirit is certainly fully sufficient to all our needs for appropriate behavior in righteous and holy living. I'd like to see an example of a local congregation in which unity was being fully accomplished all of the time. Of course, like all of the other virtues to which we are commended, we rarely attain any of them perfectly all of the time. People laud the early church as such good examples. But, frankly, they tended to muck this unity thing up pretty badly. Of course, their error was to our benefit, since many of the epistles were written to correct them. :-) Rhetorical question: How do you do fully accomplish unity with wheat AND tares? Tares, by their very nature, can neither attain unity nor desire it. Quite the contrary. Thank you, however, for the reminder. Let's press earnestly toward it regardless, even as we are commanded!
