1 | Stories from Ephesians 4:3 | Eph 1:3 | hkmama50 | 137956
I am doing a devotional at the next meeting and the subject I am focusing on is from Ephensians 4:3. I want to find an ariticle of something related to the unity of the Spirit in the bond fo peace. With the country so divided, I would like to remind my fellow leaders of the church that we need to work towards the teachings of Christ. Any articles or stories I can use to illustrate this theme would be greatly appreciate. Thanks. Terri

The key to understanding Ephesians is the first three chapters. There are over 30 imperative statements in the epistle. All of them are in the last three chapters. In other words, the last three chapters are practical application. Application of what? Application of the theology taught in the first three chapters: God, according to His eternal purpose, has sovereignly given everything necessary for Godliness to His church (the elect) through Christ. He has dealt with two great obstacles: 1. Our spiritual deadness (2:1) 2. Our separatedness (2:12) He has corrected this by: 1. Making us alive (2:5) 2. Bringing us together (2:19-22) The imperatives of the last four chapters (including the one you are to speak on) are only possible in the full light and understanding of the theology in the first three chapters. Attempting to attain to them in any other way will only be fraught with frustration and failure. In Him, Doc |
