1 | Our Freedom | Gal 4:26 | DocTrinsograce | 200382
"The Reformation demands freedom, not in order to lay down the law to kings and magistrates, or to procure political privileges for itself, or to use liberty for a cloak of maliciousness, but freedom to be servants of God, to worship Him, and to confess Him as Lord. Not a freedom to express and propagate every sentiment in every country under the sun, but a freedom to keep the commandments of Christ in every land whose government calls itself Christian, or if prevented from performing that duty, the freedom to follow the dictates of one's conscience by seeking refuge in another country. The believer knows that Christ sets him free from the curse of the law, free from the dominion of sin, free from perdition. Yet, where it concerns freedom with respect to earthly powers, the believer also knows of a freedom to serve, the freedom to be in every station a servant of God and, in His service, a servant and a subject also of men." --Groen van Prinsterer
