1 | More details on Galatians 3:10 | Gal 3:2 | stjohn | 211519
Hi studies: I know of no Scripture that teaches of a prohibition of labor on Sunday. Sunday is what we call the Lords day, so called because of His resurrection on the first day of the week, Sunday, which is not the Sabbath nor is the Sabbath work prohibition carried on under the new covenant as I understand it. God bless John |

I got the scripture from the old testament Leviticus 23:8. "The seventh day shall be a holy convocation; you shall do no customary work on it." I found the prohibited work list in a book by Rabbi Aaron Perry. I also tried to follow up with looking into the Talmud (babaloynian version) for help. I was centering my attention on how Jesus came mot to distroy the law but to fullfill it. I need to expand my understaning in this area.

Dear studies: Here are some Scripture that may help shed some light for your understanding. "So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or Sabbaths, which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ" Colossians 2:16–17 Observance of the Sabbath law was done away with by Jesus Christ on the cross because He by His death for our transgression of the law, He quite effectively "wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us" Colossians 2:14 Again, Paul speaks to this subject in his letter to the Romans. "One person esteems one day above another; another esteems every day alike. Let each be fully convinced in his own mind. He who observes the day, observes it to the Lord; and he who does not observe the day, to the Lord he does not observe it" Romans 14:5–6a And again in his letter to the Galations he ask them why they would even want to be once again in bondage of the law when they have been set free from it. "But now after you have known God, or rather are known by God, how is it that you turn again to the weak and beggarly elements, to which you desire again to be in bondage? You observe days and months and seasons and years" Galatians 4:9–10 I hope this helps you.
