Greetings averye! Galatians 3:17 is an interesting verse! "3:17 The Mosaic Law did not set aside the promises made to Abraham. And, during those hundreds of years before the law, God had also justified men only by faith. On the 430 year period, see note on Ex. 12:40." (1) "12:40 The 430 years may be the total number of years spent in bondage in Egypt, thus approximately equivalent to the 400 years of Genesis 15:13 and Acts 7:6. Or it may be that the years of bondage were 400 and the 430-year figure, used here and in Gal. 3:17, refers to the time between the last confirmation of the Abrahamic covenant and the giving of the Mosaic Law. (See also Acts 13:19, where 450 years is the approximate time from the beginning of Egyptian bondage until after the conquest of Palestine, including the 40 years of wilderness wandering.)" (1) Blessings to you, Makarios (1) Ryrie Study Bible Expanded Edition, 1995, The Moody Bible Institute of Chicago, Charles Caldwell Ryrie, Th.D., Ph.D. |
