Actually I see it as just the opposite. Galatians 2:20 amplifies Romans 6:2-6. American Christians are worried to much about their flesh and especially how much they can get away with. We see it all the time here on the forum, questions like, “ if I gratify my flesh by doing thus and such is it sin? Can I still be saved? How many times can I do it before God won’t forgive me? How about if I do this it isn’t as bad as that, is it still sin? The truth we all need to understand it is not about us, but about God. We have been called, bought with a price, brought out of darkness to serve God. Our flesh needs to be crucified, no longer should we concerned about our health, our wealth, our predicament of life, but instead serving God and him alone should be our primary focus. I saw an example of this the other night. The speaker held up a white poster board with a black dot in the middle. He said this white represents our life and the black dot our faith our religion. He went on to say we have it all wrong our life should be the tiny black dot and the white all around should be our faith and our religion. Think about it, the Hebrew children had it right. When Nebuchadnezar threatened to throw them in the fiery furnace, they said “we are not careful to answer you on this, our God is able to save us but even if He doesn’t our lives are His anyhow.” EdB |
