I need help with the interpretation to Lev. 27:19. Is it speaking of a 5 percent intrest. I am being told that this is the book, chapter and verse that says if we don't pay our tithe on time an interest of 5 percent should be added. Is it ok to apply portions of the law to a church but not all of the law | ||||||

How to know to whom to give by Crown Financial Ministries is one of their many articles about giving. I have listened to them for years and have found them to be helpful. May God bless you. Just google to find their website. |

Hi, Val... I wasn't familiar with Crown Financial Ministries. I had seen, however, the Evangelical Council of Financial Accountability. Are they simply variations on a theme? One of the unique problems in our era is the para-church organization, particularly in the matter of accountability -- financially or doctrinally. Even individual churches have had difficulty after trying to lay brand-new foundations. Speaking of which: I've taken a few courses on church administration. It's a pretty mundane sounding subject, but it isn't a new problem by any means. I remember thinking about the enormous task that Spurgeon's church had, from an administration standpoint, with some 5,000 members. Of course, all of that fades into history. People hang on to sermons, but they rarely hang on to janitorial schedules or meeting minutes. I can't say I blame them. :-) In Him, Doc |

Happy New Year Doc!!! They are a ministry that focuses on the biblical mandates of stewardship. I am sure that is not an adequate description. I used to listen to them in my car on the way to work years ago. They help you to get out of and stay out of debt using biblical principles. The particular speaker at the time was Larry Burkett. He was a godly man and was very helpful to me. That was a different time and place but I believe God used him to minister to me. May you have a wonderful New Year Doc. Blessings to you. 1 Pet 4:10 As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. Grace and Peace Val |

Val- I too used to listen to the late Mr. Burkett. A Godly man in my opinion; always careful to teach financial accountability with sound, biblical principles. Just prior to Larry Burkett losing his battle with cancer my schedule had changed disallowing me the time to hear the program. I was sorry to here eventually that Mr. Burkett had passed away. I'm glad to hear the program continues as I believe the organization has been a blessing to so many. I hope the ministry continues to be upstanding, however, I would have to investigate it's current leadership and activities before I could/would recommend it to another... here on the forum or otherwise. God bless and happy new year! Jeff |
