1 | Are we "letters"? | 2 Cor 3:2 | Searcher56 | 12055
Verse 1 starts with being commended again. There were teachers who twisted what Paul said and wrote. Because of that, letters of recommendation were needed (a little help from NIV Study Bible), like Paul's mark at the end of his letters. The letter of recommendation went both ways. Verse 2 I see their letter of recommendation being written on Paul's heart. Everyone knows they stand for the turth. Verse 3 says their letter of recommendation has the stamp of Christ, the best recommendation. The Holy Spirit wrote it on their hearts. 2 | Are we "letters"? | 2 Cor 3:2 | Makarios | 12057
I quoted from Nelson's because of what they stated in this last part.. "Paul’s love for the Corinthians was known to all who were acquainted with his ministry. One of the qualifications for ministry is love for people, both God’s people and the lost." Nelson's Study Bible has proven itself to be for me as a good 'follow up' to The MacArthur NKJV Study Bible, since MacArthur's Bible is the best NKJV Study Bible that one could buy, in my opinion.. MacArthur states concerning this verse... "The transformed lives of the Corinthians were Paul's most eloquent testimonial, better than any second-hand letter. Their changed lives were like an open letter that could be seen and read by all men as a testimony to Paul's faithfulness and the truth of his message." I agree, "Therefore, we are each a letter of recommendation because of Christ's endorsement and the seal of the Holy Spirit on our hearts.", is absolutely true! --Nolan |
