Hello jawebster, The exact term "trinity" is not found in scripture. However the doctrine is clearly taught that God is One (Deut. 6:4) yet exists in three separate Persons. Jesus is clearly referred to as God in John 20:28, where Thomas exclaims, "My Lord and my God!" (NASB) The Holy Spirit is referred to as God in Acts 5:3-4, "But Peter said, "Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back some of the price of the land? While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not under your control? Why is it that you have conceived this deed in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God." Also, 2 Cor. 13:14 closes with "The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all." Much, much more could be said, but my time is short. I hope this helps, BradK |
