1 | unanswered prayer: Good or Bad? | 2 Cor 12:8 | shamgar | 111244
Ok, I was looking at the issue of unanswered prayer as a postive thing, to help teach and/or show us that God knows our future and knows who, what, when, where we are going to interact with. Most information I have found deals with unanswered prayer being a negative and it is due to us not being alined with God, or having an unpure heart....can someone please help me understand?
2 | unanswered prayer: Good or Bad? | 2 Cor 12:8 | Makarios | 111245
Greetings Shamgar, The apostle Paul prayed three times for his 'thorn in the flesh' (2 Cor. 12:7-8) to leave him, but the Lord did not "answer" his prayer in the way that he would at first have approved. What are you praying for? With what motives are your prayers lifted up (Matthew 6:5-6; James 1:6,7; 5:15)? What are we to do if we "perceive" that our prayers are not being answered? We are to keep asking through prayer (Matthew 7:7; Luke 11:9; John 16:24). The Lord will grant us our wish (or His answer) if we continue in persistent prayer (Luke 18:2-8). What is it that you are praying for? Matthew 18:19 "Furthermore, truly I tell you that if two of you agree on earth about anything you request, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven." [ISV] Blessings to you, Makarios |

3 | unanswered prayer: Good or Bad? | 2 Cor 12:8 | shamgar | 111251
It really isnt what I am praying for....I am to speak this weekend in church and considered on doing what I percieved as an unanswered prayer. Years ago during my first marriage, I thought she was the "right one" and the one God had intended for me to spend my life with. Now it is many years later after my divorce and I have truly found the one God has intended for me. I just remember how I prayed that she and I would stay together forever. ( I honestly think I prayed for that because I knew we wouldnt). I have found my future wife in church and we both have seen the signs from God. I was just thinking of how (WOW) it is to realize that God knew this years ago that my current fiance is the right one....I am sure I have now confused you...my apologies if I have done so....
4 | unanswered prayer: Good or Bad? | 2 Cor 12:8 | Makarios | 111256
Greetings Shamgar, No, you haven't confused me. In fact, I've been praying along those same lines recently, ever since I met my current girlfriend. But all indications show that God has blessed our relationship, and He was the one who has brought us together. Right now, as the "leader" of our courtship, I need to keep the relationship on God's course, on His timing, so that He can speak to us. Part of marriage is wanting all that God has in store for the other person to happen to the other person, and supporting that. And that is part of the foundation of the courtship! :-) As long as God keeps drawing us together, then I believe that He continues to answer our prayers. Blessings to you, Makarios |
