1 | Did Paul make tents after his coversion? | 1 Cor 9:1 | Mommapbs | 104666 | ||
Hi Tim - I always wondered about all this tent making ie, was there really a need? Did people live in tents in cities where Paul travelled and plied his trade? Well, after visitng Turkey and walking the streets of these ancient cities I could see why tentmakers were a much needed profession. All along the agora or marketplace were stalls for merchants to set up their wares. They used tents to shade and protect their goods. I could see square peg holes all along the streets for the tent poles to be set up. It sure was interesting to see even this seemingly insignificant portion of the Scripture come alive! Paul, by profession, was strategically placed in the marketplace where he could not only provide material protection, but spiritual as well. I susepct that many of these merchants may have been transient visitors so the Good News that they had heard and recieved might also be spread by them too! Just some tidbits for you to consider! Blessings to you and yours with thanksgiving for your participation here! t |

Greetings Mommapbs! I'm jealous my friend! I have always wanted to go and see some of these sights for myself! :-) Excellent observations. I might add to that a 'tent maker' was probably more of what we think of as a 'leather worker'. So, he may have made much more than just tents. Interestingly, the same word was used in classical Greek to describe someone who made sets for plays. :-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

After visiting one ruin after another, they all looked the same; but God had a great message for me during this trip: The result of idolatry is ruin. As an aside, we even saw nomadic people who STILL live in goatskin tents! (I bet they had cell phones though.) t |
