1 | What does 'this' refer to | 1 Cor 7:6 | azurelaw | 230343
What does the 'this' here refer to? Does it refer to V7 about Paul's preference of celibacy or refer to the previous verses? If I understand it corrrectly, it should be in relation to V7. Thank you for your help. Shalom Azure |

2 | What does 'this' refer to | 1 Cor 7:6 | John Ryals | 230344
The Holy Spirit, through Paul, leaves the details of lives, whether celibate or married, to the individual consciences, though with large hearted wisdom and charity. He would emancipate them from human and unauthorized restrictions. In regards to V7, I don't believe this is said by Paul to denigrate marriage as some have claimed; in effect, I believe he is saying that he wished for the Coming Resurrection, when all would be as he was then. In my opinion the 'this' in V7 is the context Paul was speaking of about 'Married Christians' which goes back to V3-V6. Happy Thanksgiving and may God grant you the desires of your heart!
