1 | Homosexuality: Is Bible Too Harsh? | 1 Cor 6:9 | Hank | 86877
Some churches have been accused of taking too hard a line on the homosexual issue while others have been accused of taking too soft a line. Which line does Scripture take. ... Here are a couple of excerpts from a post entered by user Just Read Mark. He says, "I believe that the church has been so repressive about homosexuality, that we have not learned what is behind it -- or how to discipline and heal. I want SO MUCH for the church to handle gays and lesbians in a way that is sensitive to their hearts and their personal histories." The Bible says, "But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner -- not even to eat with such a person." (See 1 Cor. 5:11). .... Just Read Mark also says, "..."it (homosexuality) has become something to celebrate and take pride in." The Bible says, "Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God. Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites...will inherit the kingdom of God." (See 1 Cor. 6:9,10). You be the judge: Is the Bible soft on homosexuality? Or might not the "soft-touch" liberals also find ample reason to accuse the Bible of being "so repressive" about homosexuality? --Hank

Say keep reading 1 Cor 6:9, 10 AND 11. This says that because we were washed and sanctified in Christ Jesus name, that we were justified before God. I interpret this to mean that God outlawed this scene. The gay scene is heavily on promiscuos sex. But through Christ Jesus, we are allowed to love another of the same sex. That is love, not lust, in the passion of God. I believe God is love and love, being committed and focused, is not to be condemmed. I still however am trying to figure out what the word "inherit" means in this passage. That it wasnt just bestowed upon us, that we must go through the process to sanctify our selves in Jesus.
