1 | Should a Christian take a man to court? | 1 Cor 6:1 | joel k | 102953
Is it wrong for a Christian to take someone to court over an on-the-job religious descrimination charge? The man who owns the business is a Christian, but the man who descriminated against me is not.
2 | Should a Christian take a man to court? | 1 Cor 6:1 | New Creature | 102954
Dear joel k; I don't claim to be an authority on this issue, but however I do believe that Scripture says that a believer should not take a fellow believer to court before unbelievers. 1 Cor. 6:1 Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints? Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life? If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church. I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren? But brother goeth to law with brother, and that before the unbelievers. Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded? Nay, ye do wrong, and defraud, and that your brethren. You said the person who discriminated against you is a non-Christian. I am not sure if the following Scriptural may need to also be considered under such condition. You can read it and determine for yourself. Luke 6:29 And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloke forbid not to take thy coat also Also Christian's are to be a forgiving people. If it is possible, maybe you can seek advise from the owner of the business, who you claim happens to be a Christian. Also if I were you I would take the matter to Lord in prayer, and wait for His guidance and direction. I also hope some others in this forum who are better versed, or have more insight in this matter, may be able to further advise you concerning this matter. Peace be unto you New Creature |
