what a blessing it is to hear such sweet suplications ... caving in and sinning ... feeling guilty ... trying to make it up to God ...willing2change ... I have been getting eaten alive by the well meaning saints of this forum today and last night. The verse you refer to is a stumbling block for many Christians, and it is used ... out of the context .. to destroy peoples faith in redemption. After recieving many replies from others who refuse to even consider that the truth speaks for itself, I told myself today that I am through with this forum. I have been heart-sick all day because I saw the Word of God torn in two and used for kindling the fires. I can not handle the misuse and abuse, because I live, eat, drink and breath by the Word. ..... then I see your Question and the awesome reply from scribe. and I thank God he was there. I would be honored to share the truth with you. If you would like to talk, we must speak elsewhere. I could not handle another beating like I just got from the ones who think we should be cowards and let others kill with the sword. Hang on brother, and call Jesus by his newest name ... willing2changeU2 ... joel k joelweger@msn.com |

joel k. Let me encourage you not to give up on the forum. Don't get me wrong I think you should give up on debates of any kind. But don't give up on posting your thoughts about a verse. Approach the forum differently. Don't respond to anyone that does not agree with your answers. Just post your thoughts and associate them with a verse. Over time this database will be a blessing to generations to come. Think of the potential. Sure there will be lots of various teaching and doctrines. But this is an open forum. The way to keep a peaceful spirit and not be grieved is to ignore those that attempt to draw you into debates. If they tell you you are wrong, just say God bless you. and do not respond or defend your answers. I am interesed in your answers to questions on scriptures. I don't even read those posts that people give trying to tell someone they are in error. So don't worry about them they expose themselves when they attempt to tear down another believer. It is tempting for human nature to defend our positions and call it "contending for the faith" but in reality it is raw pride. If the Lord has revealed something to you share it in a spirit of meekness and humility, never dogmatically about things that have not been fully exhausted by any man much less us, and then do not even respond to those that post replies that attack your position. This is extremely difficult to do for many of us. But it will make us much better people if we learn to "turn the other cheek" and "answer not again." It will make us like Christ. God Bless you and feel free to email me as well. scribefaith@hotmail.com |

scribe .. thank you for being the encourager you are. It is very hard to absorb the contention whenever --I see a new believer asking questions that are the typically ask (or ordained) to the nature of salvation --- and I use the precious gift/share the blessing to render assistance in understanding --- then someone else refutes the Word by tagging a note saying " I think ...bla bla bla " and " my opinion is ... bla bla bla ..." surely this tends to add confusion for the original poster and takes away from the answers the Holy Spirit has delivered to us in scriptures. Do you know what I mean? If you will, read the tread on 1Cor.5:11 from a couple of days ago where the first poster talks about a new lady that is living a sexually immoral life. I could not find a way (at that time) to be gentle about knocking her off her pedistle. Having first hand knoledge of the mis-use of this scripture out of it's context makes it one of my personal pet peaves. (? spelling) please let me know your thoughts on this scripture, but as you probably know you must start a the begining of this subject (1Cor. 5:1) Thank You, joel k |

I have read the thread joel and it demonstrates what I was saying. It is best that we do neither respond toward the individual posting nor in defence of any post that seems to have taken something wrong. To get the most out of the form and to contribute with a spirit of excellence, my suggestion is that we always post as though we are writing a book realizing that our audience is everyone and not a particular individual. Your original post was excellent. The truth was pure and the spirit of which you wrote was proper grief for the new seeker. The truth of your statement concerning waiting on God for the Holy Spirit to convict the new believers as they grow is a very important message. Many saints can testify to how they grew in the Lord and were convicted about certain things Months after they were born again things that they never thought about until God was ready to deal with it. It is not the Love of Christ that would try and clean someone's life up who just started coming to church. Of course if they ask then we should give them scriptures, but it would not be the Spirit of the Lord to not fellowship with them if they were expressing a desire to be changed. The Lord is patient with us we better be patient with them. As you mentioned Paul said it was those that did not repent that had to be dealt with more severely. Those that claim it is not sin. But even an new believer might say such a thing becuase of the addiction or the struggle. Isn't that what satan always has used to get us to trip up in our own lives.. he says "it is not sin" it is ok.. and we indulge.. then regret. Then he accuses and we are crippled. Until we return in faith with fresh resoltution to not fall for that lie again. We cannot always understand all the meaning and intent and background of what someone is saying so we often misunderstand and then answer accordingly. The person takes offence becuase they have been misunderstood and the next thing you know you have posts going back and forth accusing and being accused..and who is the author of that? I think if we always posts in generalities such as.. " I a do not know your particular situation, and I am not accusing you of wrong doing" But I have noticed that there is a need in the church for christians to be sensitive to how new believers take time to grow.. etc " Rarely will one take offence to such a post and if they do feel compelled to defend themselves nothing really needs to be said on your part for fear of feeding any debates. Therefore. Keep up the good work brother, your original post on this thread was excellent. I am glad you are adding rich content to the form. Here are my rules that I follow in all debates. 1) Do not debate. (I do not agree with debating) 2) Do not strive (the servant of the Lord must not strive) 3) Do not tell people they are wrong. It is better to say "The bible says etc..." or to say.. "I may have misunderstood you.. or.. I have noticed that there is a need in the body of christ to understand such and such." More people find it easier to hear such words than "You are wrong.. or "You are in error" or other confrontational words. 4) Do not be dogmatic about your views on scriptures that are shrouded by 2000 years of cultural differences and customs. Such as exactly what Paul meant when he said a woman should cover her head. Of course you may think you know for certain but it is better to always be humble in our understanding that on many things we see through a glass darkly. 5) Realize we are not called to make everyone agree with us. It is enough that we are found worthy by the Grace of God to even utter his Holy Name, and to share the good news of salvation through faith in Christs sacifice for us. Let us be content to utter the good news even one time and not think we have to make everyone agree. We can utter it and go our way rejoicing that we were used by God, we who were once His enemies. Thanks be to God for His unspeakable gift. May God Bless you as you study His Word. |
