1 | Does the Father have a God? | 1 Cor 2:14 | stevenhh | 138751
Hi all again, On the 16th of this month, I asked for an explaination of 2 Cor 1:3. I got some 50 responses but none that attempted to help me explain this verse. So I'll ask it again, word for word: I work with a Unitarian man and we talk Bible a couple of times every week. He believes the Unitarian creed, which holds the holy spirit to be just the influence of the Almighty God on the minds of his servants, dwelling in the hearts of believers, as the source of their spiritual life. He also showed me just yesterday 2 Cor 1:3, Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Here he says is proof that the trinity is not Bible based. I told him that he couldn't just pick out one scripture and make a whole doctrine out of it. But he said that there were many more bible verses that showed that Jesus has a God but Almighty God doesn't, and that proves Jesus isn't the Almighty God. He's very sharp when it comes to the Bible and I study it too, regularly. Being a Baptist, I try to prove him wrong about who God really is. He told me he would show me more verses that shows him that the trinity is not a bible teaching. He seems very sincere. So for now, any suggestions from anyone about this verse 2 Cor 1:3? Thanks |

2 | Does the Father have a God? | 1 Cor 2:14 | SoloVerdad | 138752
Does the Father have a God? It is easy to misunderstand the Scripture, that's the reason why the Bible ask us not to go beyond what is written (1 Cor 4:6). The Bible teaches that God created everything thru the word: Gen. 1:3,6,9,14 (And God said...) Gen. 1:11 (Then God said...) and so on. And that's what John is telling us in John 1:1. But him, inspired by the Holy Spirit (God) goes further and tells us that, that word that was with God, was God. No like some say “a” God, no. Like John said: God. So the Bible is teaching us up to this point, that there is God and the word of God who is God. For the natural man, this is difficult to understand, I know (according to 1 Cor 2:14) and it is foolishness to him. But for the spiritual man is clear; our God is so God that even his word is God and his Spirit is God. God is one and HE is all, HE has never been alone. To be alone is to be in need, there is not need in God. When HE created man, HE said: Let “us” make man... in “our” likeness (Gen 1:26). “Let us” means He was not alone. And “our likeness” means not only to his image but also to theirs of those that were with HIM and that were like HIM. If it were not so, HE would not have said “our.” He would have said maybe “my” or “your” or his.” But not, HE said “our” including himself and those that were with HIM that were of his likeness. Also, Paul says that, although Jesus existed in the form of God, He did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped. But emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men (Ph 2:6). This means that before Jesus came to the earth, HE was equal with God. John already told us that HE was the word, the word of God. Any Spiritual believer will understand that anything that comes from God is God in essence. The Holy Spirit comes from God, then HE is God. We all know that the Jews didn't believe who Jesus meant he was. They wanted to kill him for blasphemy because being a man he made himself out to be God (John 5:18; 10:33). So now when a person does not believe that Jesus is God. This person is also saying that the Jews were right and at the same time makes Jesus a lier, a blasphemer, then, when HE (Jesus) died on the cross, HE didn't die for our sins as the Bible teaches but for his (this contradicts the Bible in 2 Cor 5:21). So, HE didn't pay for us as the Bible also teaches, this makes the Bible wrong or worse, a lie (Rom 5:6,8), then there is not hope and no salvation. We still need to work our on salvation. Every created being of God can have a son of his likeness, of his kind. What hinder the begotten son of God to be God like his father? If the Father is God, then the Son is God. If the Father and the Son are God, What hinder the Holy Spirit to be God? So the answer to the question is a "yes", the Father has a God, not a God like to surrender to him, but to love, his own son, the word of God. That's why the writer of Hebrews and the psalmist tell us that God said:YOUR THRONE, O GOD, IS FOREVER AND EVER, AND THE RIGHTEOUS SCEPTER IS THE SCEPTER OF YOUR KINGDOM. (He 1:8). Who is wrong? Is God wrong? Is the writer of Hebrews wrong? Is the psalmist wrong?or Is the unbeliever wrong? I think, it is the unbeliever the one who is wrong. Jesus is the son of God and HE is God. This is the rock on which the church of Christ is built (Mat 16:18) |
