1 | The Word of God is Perfect. | 1 Cor 13:10 | dwilde | 92224
If we only take this one verse then it is open to debate on what “perfect” means. But if we look at the context we see clearly that the Spiritual Gifts wear to further or spread the word of God, so that the Church can grow in maturity as well as in numbers. Before the completion of the Bible, “the Word of God”, by the inspiration, direction and guidance of God. All they had was parts and peaces of the word of God. But now we have and have had for some time the perfect, 100 present, complete, and infallible Word of God. |

2 | The Word of God is Perfect. | 1 Cor 13:10 | gracefull | 92338
1 Corinthians 13:8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. 9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. 11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. 13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity. So knowledge has passed away? But then 'face to face'....? You now see face to face? No, while I agree the Word is infallable, WE do not see perfectly. If this were fulfilled, we, the body of Christ would be operating in perfect harmony. You can't find two believers who agree perfectly...No my brother, that which is perfect has not come. We still see through a glass darkly. Most who use this verse to prove cessation will turn around and use the first part...see through a glass darkly...as if it is still true. Either we SEE FACE TO FACE or we still view through the human fallacy of flesh, and the carnal nature... that which is perfect will be us glorified in the presence of God. God bless |

3 | The Word of God is Perfect. | 1 Cor 13:10 | dwilde | 92347
The Word of God is God. He is Perfect and the Word is Perfect. So knowledge has passed away? v9 Knowing in part is gone we now know the entire, complete, thorough Word of God. Now, that does not mean that everyone will acknowledge the entire Word of God, but it is there. But then 'face to face'....? v9 prophesy or an inspired declaration of divine will and purpose, a prediction of something to come was in part but now we have the unchangeable, unswerving, unshakable Truth that is the word of God. And it is there in front of us face to face. Some may tern away or refuse to accept it in its entirety. And others that say it is only a good story or only history. But that does not change the fact that it is what it is. The Word of God. The hand and the foot and the ear may have different points of view but they all agree that they are part of the same body. As believers in Jesus Christ, we all are at different places in are relationship with Christ but we all have the same relationship through the Holly Spirit. |

Hello dwilde, You said, "The hand and the foot and the ear may have different points of view but they all agree that they are part of the same body." I agree, but it truly makes me sad to realize so many are missing out on this empowerment of the Holy Spirit, therefore not reaching their full potential of ministry. Each of us is a part of the body with our assigned 'gifts' or Charismata. 1 Corinthians 12 15 If the foot says, "Because I am not a hand, I am not a part of the body," it is not for this reason any the less a part of the body. 16 And if the ear says, "Because I am not an eye, I am not a part of the body," it is not for this reason any the less a part of the body. 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole were hearing, where would the sense of smell be? 18 But now God has placed the members, each one of them, in the body, just as He desired. 19 If they were all one member, where would the body be? 20 But now there are many members, but one body. 21 And the eye cannot say to the hand, "I have no need of you"; or again the head to the feet, "I have no need of you." 22 On the contrary, it is much truer that the members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary; 23 and those members of the body which we deem less honorable, on these we bestow more abundant honor, and our less presentable members become much more presentable, 24 whereas our more presentable members have no need of it. But God has so composed the body, giving more abundant honor to that member which lacked, 25 so that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. 26 And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it. 27 Now you are Christ's body, and individually members of it. 28 And God HAS APPOINTED IN THE CHURCH, FIRST APOSTLES, SECOND PROPHETS, THIRD TEACHERS, THEN MIRACLES, THEN THE GIFTS OF HEALING, HELPS, ADMINISTRATIONS, VARIOUS KINDS OF TONGUES. 29 All are not apostles, are they? All are not prophets, are they? All are not teachers, are they? All are not workers of miracles, are they? 30 All do not have gifts of healings, do they? All do not speak with tongues, do they? All do not interpret, do they? 31 But earnestly desire the greater gifts. And I show you a still more excellent way. God bless |

The only gift that we must focus all our attention on is LOVE. Out of that one gift flows faith and hope. If we do not truly understand the power of that one gift, then we have not gained the knowledge of Christ teachings. 1 Corinthians 12 31 But earnestly desire the greater gifts. And I show you a still more excellent way. 1 Corinthians 13 13And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love. Matthew 22 37Jesus said to him, ""You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' 38This is the first and great commandment. 39And the second is like it: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' 40On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets." John 13 34A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another." |

Hello dwilde, "The only gift that we must focus all our attention on is LOVE. Out of that one gift flows faith and hope. If we do not truly understand the power of that one gift, then we have not gained the knowledge of Christ teachings." This is correct. The gifts are given by the Holy Spirit to manifest Himself for that very purpose. The gifts are given to demonstrate God's love through the supernatural manifestations of the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 12:4 Now there are (10) varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 And there are varieties of ministries, and the same Lord. 6 There are varieties of effects, but the same God who works all things in all persons. 7 But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit FOR THE COMMON GOOD. I believe the body of Christ is missing out on the manifestations of the Holy Spirit through the gifts which are a portion of the New Covenant Jesus provided through His shed blood. Ephesians 4:15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: We are all still growing... God bless |
