Hi bunmi, Thank you for your question and Scriptures to compare. Acts 2:11, "Cretans and Arabs--we hear them in our own tongues speaking of the mighty deeds of God." 1 Corinthians 12:6, "And there are varieties of effects, but the same God who works all things in all persons. God is Spirit, and there is one God, and one Lord, so I am not one to be concerned about the roles of the Persons of the Trinity. The gift in Acts 2 was the gift of speaking in tongues. The Spirit was giving them the ability to speak out. They were speaking of the spiritual things they had seen and heard. They were speaking of the mighty deeds of God. 1 Cor 12:11, "But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills...24 But God has composed the body, giving more abundant honor to that member which lacked, that there should be no division in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another." There is that blend of the Persons that we need to keep in mind. 1 Cor 12:3, "Therefore I make known to you, that no one speaking by the Spirit of God says, "Jesus is accursed", and no one can say "Jesus is Lord", except by the Holy Spirit." From the heart, Ray |
